U Tube Manometer

nrg global instruments make U – Tube , single limb , inclined tube Manometer is the basic and mostly used style of manometer. The U - Tube manometer is a versatile, economical instrument for the measurement of pressure, vacuums or differential pressures. Pressure measurements are accomplished by balancing a vertical head of indicating fluid with the pressure to be measured. As there is no cams, gears or levers to operate in the manometer, the readings obtained are always accurate. The U Tube Manometer, have “U” shaped tube, half filled with liquid (Water / Mercury / SP Gr. 0.81). When both the tubes are open, the liquid is at the same height in each leg (Tube / Limbs). When positive pressure is applied to one leg the liquid is forced down in that leg and up in the other. The difference in the height, which is the sum of the reading above and below zero, tells you the pressure. When vacuum is applied to one leg, the liquid rises in that leg and falls in the other. The difference in the height indicates the amount of vacuum. The U Tube Manometer, consisting of two Glass Limbs. Pressure Gauge

NRG GLOBAL compound gauge is a device that can display both positive and negative (vacuum) pressures. You need to use a compound gauge when you are measuring a system that is exerting both positive and negative pressure on the gauge. Gauges are designed to measure specific types of pressure, so if you pick a simple pressure or vacuum gauge for a system that requires a compound gauge, the gauge will most likely be damaged. The exertion of negative pressure on a pressure gauge will cause damage, and likewise the exertion of positive pressure on a vacuum gauge will also damage the gauge. Pressure gauges use pounds per square inch (psi) as the unit of measure. Vacuum gauges, on the other hand, measure force in units of inches of mercury (in.Hg). Both of these measurements will be displayed on the face of a compound gauge (see the inset image). The needle in a compound gauge will move clockwise when measuring positive pressure, and counterclockwise when measuring negative pressure. A magnet encapsulated in float couples with rotating magnets are connected to an indicating pointer. Henceforth, the movement of the float is accurately indicated in terms of flowrate. They are intended for application where high pressure, temperature or corrosive conditions preclude the use of conventional glass tube. These are all Metal Variable Area Type Flow meter design to measure flow rate of Liquids & Gases under critical conditions. It consists of a tapered metal tube, an indicating assembly and a float. A magnet encapsulates in float couples with rotating magnets connected to an indicating pointer, thus the movement of the float, is accurately indicated in terms of flow rate. 2. Working Principle When fluid or gas flows through a taper tube containing a float, a pressure difference of P1 and P2 is created between upper and lower side of the float. The float moves upwards by a force obtained by multiplying the pressure differential by the maximum cross-sectional area of the float.
